Guys, shut it lol. Dogs don't need meat in their diet. Cats need meat protein (taurine) because they're obligated carnivores.

Dogs are omnivore. I don't know how well a bean diet would go. Consult a nutritionist. They definitely need more than rice and beans to live.

Omnivore means that they need proteins as well as they need vitamins. It doesn't mean that they can get away with it only eating meat or vegetals.

If I'm wrong please elighten me. Not sarcasm.

You are right. They still need protein. That can be very hard to sustain. And in my scientific opinion, they need meat. Kind of like us. We are omnivorous too but a meat eater just turns out so much healthier overall. It's in our blood. Same for dogs.

A vegan diet would be so expensive and impractical.

We don't need meat to be healthy. Humans are a bad example there. There are hundreds of millions of strict vegetarians alive that tend to noticeably outlive their meat eating counterparts in the same regions.

Would a dog like meat? Yeah. Does a dog need meat to be healthy and happy? Veterinary science and nutrition suggests they do not.

Also not having meat tends to make a diet significantly less expensive I mean it's gonna cost more than Ol Roy and Beneful, which are mostly plant filler with meat by products, but it's not anywhere near a pricy canine diet
