Where do you get the idea that the Japanese worship the West?

They don't "worship" the West, they admire it and have used it to prop up themselves on the world stage since the mid 19th century-- they are the way today because of their embracing of the West. That's not to say Japanese nationalists immediately got on board with the idea, it took several decades. Japan would have been India and China right now if it wasn't for the fact that Japan's policy of "sakoku" was forcibly ended, and like Britain they were an island nation and knew they had to rapidly modernize or face the fate of China.

Both Britain and America had a heavy hand in helping Japan modernize. And as fate would have it, Japan also succumbed to the Western powers in 1945. Ironically it was America, once more that helped bring back Japan back on its feet.

Right-wing Japanese nationalists will deny the significant role of the West though.
