I really wish this kind of thinking would go away. Growing up, I had a number of friends and class mates that considered general delinquency "being black."

Get good grades in school? Be on time to class? Speak properly? "You're acting white!"

It's dumb as hell and self defeating. I really don't understand how "acting black" is equated to doing dumb shit in life.


I've heard about this before too. I think that one possible solution would be showing kids examples of African businessmen in Africa, like have these kids ever seen a board room meeting in a country like Nigeria where every single person sitting around the table is black? Maybe it will shatter some of these illusions of what "acting black" means.
