It is mortifying. No matter who it is, we deserve love, support, and commanding understanding for fair judgement. However, humanity, in its baseness, will never appreciate difference. We will hate difference, fear it, and make excuses for hating it. We will revel in similarity, using it as a strength and as a natural and correct state, and use it to condemn difference.
