It's not so much Jeremy that caused the checks to be required, it was Wizards that set the precedent of banning people with criminal pasts. Jeremy just called attention to it (and the added bonus of them being judges) as payback. The guy is a d-bag but this is something that Wizards should have been on top of a long time ago. Especially with the way they try to straddle the line of judges not being employees while still getting them to work for them. But Wizards isn't doing the background checks. They're forcing stores to do it. Also, what does "being on top of it" mean? They (and the judges association) always respond quickly to such allegations. In addition, judges don't work for Wizards.
