I couldn't see myself paying a monthly subscription to play one game for 3 months, I'd rather just buy the game. I mean, the math works out where you'd be paying $30 instead of $60 (if it was just the three months), but I get where you're coming from. The appeal of the service is still in the quantity and not relying on it for the four games Microsoft makes each year.
