Depending on the circumstances, I'd just leave when I'm scheduled to leave and let the higher up deal with shit not getting done due to the other person's absence. Working for salary instead of hourly is so silly.

you'd have been working that day anyway, so if you're the time that needs to mentally prepare yourself to work for the day, you should've already done that.

now if you were called in to work a 12 hour shift on your day off, then maybe you'd have a case to complain, but as it is, you're literally just complaining about money in your pocket.
