The companions didn't seem "flat and the same" to me at all. From Blackwall with learning about his plight of wanting to a better man than he was, Dorian wanting to make Tevinter a better place and dealing with the expectations of him from his familyor Bull's struggle and potential consequences of his quest with staying part of the Qun and betraying you in the end (or Dorian), or giving it all up

And so on.

It's fair to not like it, but your claims simply aren't true though.
