I don't think anything Dragon Age was made to feel dark.

In Origins you could literally crack jokes about your family being murdered and your cousin being raped if you're a city elf.

There was a complete tonal disconnect. It was presented as the emotional equivalent of wearing a condom -- in your mind you knew what was going on because it was presented straight in front of you, but it didn't make you feel anything because of how blunt and flatly it was presented.


If you say so. As a fan of all 3 games I didn't feel this and in fact would say 2 did the worst job of getting the gameplay to represent story.

I'd see your point that the more open world nature of the game hurt NPC interaction but the point of "It's less dark because it felt less dark even though it was just as dark!" just sounds more to me like you got older.
