As an Illinoisan, nope. She's actually a pretty inept campaigner and doesn't inspire any confidence. She's the type of candidate that looks good on paper and then when you actually see her campaign you just don't care about her anymore.
As someone who is a Republican and calls her office since I am in her district I find her office is well oiled and put together and responds to my issues via mail almost everytime I call. I never got the same respect from the RINO who held her seat before her.
I'm not saying that she's a bad legislator or bad at constituent services. But that doesn't equal being a remotely interesting candidate on the campaign trail or in debates. She's the type of politician that is essentially made to be a legislator but a jump up to a major executive position would be really out of her element and almost assuredly not attract very much broad appeal support.
The last election was literally disabled vs disabled and I couldn't be bothered to vote for that RINO Kirk. Him and Rauner have totally destroyed Republican chances in this state for a decade.
I think you're overvaluing state GOP chances previously. Kirk only won due to initial unpopularity at the Dems over the early Obamacare debate (and over the Burris appointment by Blago), and Rauner only won because he was running against freaking Pat Quinn. Neither had a chance in normal circumstances.
Pat Quinn if you remember won because he said something southern voters like. I believe our state has 106 counties and for a democrat to win office they need only 6. Its a very small number so I can be off by a number or two.
However if you remember Pat Quinn made headlines by saying he would have the National Guard march on Chicago. Everyone not of Cook County instantly had a hard on. This pissed off Democrats but what are they going to do, vote for the Republican? lol
Rauner literally lied and fooled many of us. At this point he's being primaried but I think at this point the Republicans are screwed after what Rauner has done.
