As ridiculous as it may look, you are doing it for the good of others. Of course such cover isn't exactly necessary if folks actually covered their mouths when they cough/sneeze and not cough/sneeze into their hands but not everyone is that courteous.

Actually, in the military, they do that. They always make sick and infectious people wear them. At least, at the bases I've been stationed. And some people wear them just to not catch whatever. Some people also wear them because they have allergies...
