Why would I want to talk to women I don't intend to have sex with? To hear their well reasoned thoughts on the European debt crisis?
Is that automatically misogyny, though? I believe there has to be an element of hatred or mistrust of the gender, for it to be so. It could be simple apathy towards women that dont meet their sexual preference.
Wiki has a good summary of misogyny that shines a light on how that statement is misogynistic.
Misogyny is the hatred of, contempt for, or prejudice against women or girls. Misogyny can be manifested in numerous ways, including social exclusion, sex discrimination, hostility, androcentrism, patriarchy, male privilege, belittling of women, violence against women, and sexual objectification.
By that definition, calling a woman 'stupid' is misogyny, regardless of context.
The statement in question, though, is extremely misogynistic.
I don't think the wiki suggests that context should be excluded. If you call a woman stupid because she is a woman, then it's misogynistic.
True, but that's not what it said. It said 'belittling a woman' is misogyny, not 'belittling a woman because she's a woman.' ---
