Basically, A began happening because of B, before C. So if A is happening and B never went away, without proof, you can't really just say "Well, C contributes to A, so D and E" and expect everybody to just nod and agree.

You can't expect everyone to nod and agree to anything tbh. I know you hate the CRO2k7 due to past posts so i expect you to not think social media has caused a lot of problems. If it makes you feel better I'm not hating o casuals the way gamers say it or something. We're all casuals is the point. I'm a casual for Magic the gathering for example. I don't care about win conditions or the perfect deck, I just like seeing the interaction between 2 or more cards, etc.

But when people spend hours a day doing something (YouTube consuption, twitter, facebook, etc), that is time not spent doing other things. My point is more so based on time spent combined with the science of how social media causes dopamine sensations that cause potential problems to a large degree.

There is no question that social media has contributed to dating short term, long term, sex, marriage, etc. Also the lack of spending time in the flesh and real world rather than retreat to the online space that ultimately leads to very little. The Internet before 2007 was radically different, due to not being in our pockets and not being centralized to facebook, reddit, twitter etc.
