All you need is money and average grades and you can get into a law school in the US. Then just grind through three years of law school, where the workload is nothing compared to medical school or even undergrad engineering, pass a bar that more than 50% of the takers can pass, and get called to the bar.

After all that, you don't really know anything. You certainly don't know how to practice law. Just a bunch of useless theories and histories of contract, tort, criminal, and civil procedures. Most of which you'll forget after you pass the bar.

Seriously, I feel like if you can read and write, you can be a decent lawyer. Which is probably why more and more people choose pro se representation. Just need to be able to memorize all the legal languages and jargon and you are already better than half of the lawyers out there.

No wonder so many lawyers are unemployed and eventually had to change their professions.

Yet, so many people still consider lawyers to be a prestigious occupation. Wonder how long it will take until this attitude changes.
