The first disc is 2Pac at his most interesting by far. This is the first and only time hes captivated me much as a rapper, and the lyrics are great as always. I dig the obvious highlights here, but I think it gets a little tired by the end. The second disc is really forgettable in my opinion, these all kinda follow the same formula after a while. The beats are kinda whatever too.

Havent listened, I dont like the songs Ive heard of Nas outside of a few features

Havent listened, same thing I said about Nas applies here

I get this is a game changer, but I still dont really care for it. The high pitched soul samples are interesting at first but get really annoying after a while, theyre very overused here. I actually like some of Kanyes rapping here, hes a little more restrained than on his later releases and it works, I think its the highlight of the album. But as a whole I dont really find the songs themselves very interesting and its just very ineffective for me overall.

The highlights here are some of the best songs the genre has to offer. Fuck Wit Dre, Let Me Ride, Stranded On Death Row, and of course Nuthin But a G Thang are all stone cold classics in my opinion. The G-Funk production works wonders here, its simultaneously both chill and aggressive and compliments the fun gangsta lyrics. So when this album works, its a borderline masterpiece. But the more thoughtful stuff here like Lil Ghetto Boy just kinda falls flat, and the skits are really annoying.

Similar to what I said about Biggie earlier in this thread, but Snoop is one of my favorite MCs, even though I dont usually care for his songs himself as much. Hes got this silky smooth, borderline careless sound to him, its so casual and effortless sounding. I could listen to him rap the dictionary. Otherwise I could basically say the same things I said about The Chronic here, except there arent quite as many highlights.
