it got good when the battle started, but I agree it started slow af. and there were some moments that were supposed to be touching, but weren't really earned so it just felt weird, like:
when they get to the planet to start the attack, Jyn gives droid guy a gun, and droid says "Gee Jyn, keep doing shit that's unexpected," but up to that point she hasn't done a single unexpected thing, nor has she really meaningfully engaged with the droid, so there was no reason for him to say that and I was just left scratching my head. Like maybe there were some more scenes of her being nice to him that got cut.
also at the end we literally see some ships lightspeed into a bigger ship adn just blow up...so which is canon!? Is it an insta-win kamakaze attack or a useless stupid thing? ---
