You may think that the Harlequin disorder isn't that bad, but wait there's more...

Harlequin icthyosis patients rarely live past infancy because here's what your body is doing:

It is growing skin SO QUICKLY, that it splits open at the seams like the worst case of excema you've ever seen. All this skin needs to be hydrated, but your body can't produce enough moisture to all of the skin, so it is dehydrated and inflamed. This further adds to the problem.

It is amazing that anyone has lived past age 1 with this disorder.
