The cop discussion is always a good intelligence barometer. You can completely disregard someone's opinion on any matter in life when they say either 1) ALL cops lie and are bad 2) NO cops lie and they're all great
There is usually a lot more number 1 than there is 2
Cops are humans. Some cops are bad. Just like some teachers are bad. Some McDonald's employees are bad. Some morticians are bad. If every cop was bad, you'd know. Thank your founding fathers for our failsafe :)
This doesn't really address the foundation of the argument, though. Sure, it's easy to say, "It's not fair to generalize x!" But when x is an occupation in which every member is tasked with enforcing an unjust law, then it is very fair to say that all members of x are tasked with enforcing unjust laws. And the appropriate value judgments follow from that.
Some such proponents of this line of reasoning like to qualify the assertion for clarificatory purposes, though, and instead of adopting the motto "Fuck every cop," they say something like "Fuck every cop who ever did his job."
It does, and it's hypocritical. The left, at the same time as they bash cops, aren't running around saying all Muslims are bad and terrorists. Stupid generalizations are stupid generalizations. If the 1 million+ cops in America were anywhere near as bad as some people make them out to be, the country would revolt
