Last month my car got dinged as well on the left bumper. A commercial vehicle was parallel parking behind me while I was still inside my house. I went outside shortly after to leave to go back to work, and fortunately the guy saw me since he was working on the house next to mine. He apologized and felt really bad. He gave me the info for his supervisor so I can contact them and get the company to cover the cost for the repair of the dent and new paint job. Lucky thing too because it cost $1,300 to repair, and even if I went to my insurance company to fix it if they guy was an idiot and didn't say anything, then I'd have to probably pay $1,000 deductible while the insurance would only cover $300.

I wasn't as hard on the guy since he did apologize and didn't hit and run. I thanked the guy for at least admitting his fault and everything went easily. I'm sure his boss gave him a one-on-one talking to in their office and he probably had a warning, but I'm sure that's the worse of it for him.

I got my car fixed in 4 days and they paid for my rental vehicle.

This kinda thing makes me want to look for and invest in a dash camera. Preferable a 360 degrees one if there is any. In case you do get someone who will hit and run.
