That's going to add more time than the few seconds it takes for them to glance at your receipt. Mead posted... Its my stuff, I already paid for it Yes but how do they know you didn't sneak in some other item along with the items listed on the receipt? Much like anything that adds another step to what we gotta deal with, I blame those who take advantage of the system. In these cases, probably sneaking in expensive items along with the products they bought. Checking the receipt isn't 100% fool proof but it might catch the occasional dumb thief who have $100+ worth of items in the bag/cart but less than $20 or too few items shown on the receipt. Usually have attendants watching the transactions take place on their own screen Depending on the store, some of those self-checkout areas have 8-10 machines and only one attendant. Large stores like Wal-Mart would probably have to have a second or maybe even third attendant and I doubt they'll do that. --- "You must gather your party before venturing forth" "Go for the eyes Boo!
