Every single person didn't do that, but a vocal portion of them did because candidates who are outside of the norm often attract hanger-ons who care less about any sort of policy than they do feeling like they're part of something or sticking it to the perceived "enemy." Essentially people who aren't logically thinking about what they're doing from an actual political perspective.

There's no sensible reason to have jumped from Bernie's policy ideas to the literal opposite spectrum of political policy with Trump unless you were

a. Treating the election like a coolest-guy-competition and felt like your feelings got hurt

or

b. you had some sort of -really- specific random tangential issue that you were voting entirely based on.
