Any of Haydn
Any Mozart

Beethoven's 7th 2nd movement is nice

Though beethoven's real skill was in the developments...he would take the most banal idea and squeeze everything out of it

I wont call La Mer a symphony (debussy considered it a symphonic sketch) but to me it remains the most beautiful piece of art ever made

The rite is not a symphony at all (they follow very strict form...the rite is a ballet

Shostakovich 9th is a fun jab at Stalin

For melody any Tchaikovsky will do

I'm more of a concerto guy myself. Though I do love a good fugue.
