In 2016, a clinical trial that utilized nestorone and synthetic testosterone showed a 96 percent success rate at suppressing sperm but included unpleasant side effects for test subjects. Patients reported that they experienced mood swings and muscle pain.

Aren't those side affects already what women deal with when using hormonal birth control? Or are these much worse?

these were dramatically stronger and more frequqent than female hormonal birth control. the study was not pulled because the patients didn't want to continue but because an external review board decided it wouldn't add anything to what was already known and would unquestionably subject its patients to definite and unnecessary side effects

also one of the trial patients killed themself

despite all this about 95% of the men who used it said they'd use it if it were a commercial product available to them

that study has been massively editorialized in order to present a narrative that makes women feel validated
