Funny you should mention that, considering I can't recall the sandwiches themselves being all cheap. Is it different for countries outside the USA?

The sandwiches are priced like the other large ones. While it costs a lot to purchase a sandwich, the actual product is cheap. McDonald's buys pork when it's cheaper than other meats to sell the patties for maximum profit. Pork fluctuates more and teens to have less consistent supply. By keeping that big pork sandwich as a limited time offer they never have to cut into their profits by pushing premium pork at peak prices. And they've created the mcrib fanatics.

It's not just the pork, they push whatever meat is most readily available and cost efficient for their sales.

The mcrib is limited time and tied to pork prices here too (and it's the same nasty formed patty). They're the same sandwich. I've had it in the US and Canada.
