Part of it is that I learned from TFA that I might as well wait till Christmas cause my family will want to see it together, so I didn't actually see it on opening night. So...it wouldn't surprise me if the movie has a slightly stronger tail than normal, for people who wait till their family is together on Christmas to see the movie. It has a historically low second-week drop actually but its opening was second highest of all time domestically right behind TFA Like the drop is huge but it still posted $120 million or so for the four-day weekend so that's really just saying a ton about just how much it made here on opening weekend ($220 million) Mixed word-of-mouth + Christmas falling on a Monday + Jumanji overperforming versus expectations all play big roles in the drop but it's still making bank like crazy right now and yeah, you might be right about it having decent legs in weeks 3 through 5 or so.
