How would finding out be different from any other massive thing that person has lied to not told you about? It might be interesting to him because the reactions can vary so much from person to person. Some people are more or less Ok with being lied to, others never get over it and some will even kill the liar because of their dishonesty. Like you said, it doesn't even have to be the trans issue.
