Weird, I wonder if there was something that forced them to hold to that. Facebook/Twitter occupy a middle-ground in terms of content/pipe, in part because the platform/framework they offer is unique-- it's not just upload and download speeds. Also, you may be interested to note that Facebook/Twitter are not the whole of the internet.
