Did they have popularity before that song? Yes. That song is actually on their second album. Additionally, in a leaked demo, they have an early mastering of that song that doesn't have the backup singer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMlS8b6Jnsc they weren't popular or particularly well known before that song, doesn't matter that it was on their second album.
