There's FOUR MILLION burglaries every year and there's somebody present in the home for a MILLION of them! A QUARTER MILLION PEOPLE ANNUALLY are the victims of violent crime from home invaders! Danger from home invasions is a thing. If you want to talk about something not worth worrying about, we can talk rifle murders.

I'm assuming you're using this link or something derivative from it to get your statistics? http://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/ascii/vdhb.txt

So yes, 28% of home invasions happened with a household member present.
In about 7% of these instances was someone the victim of a violent crime
It appears that having a gun during a break in puts you more at risk than not having one. They want your stuff, not your life (almost always).

The only argument I can think of to combat these statistics is if you think it's reasonable to protect property with life.

Home invasions happen more than house fires. Do you have smoke detectors? Are smoke detectors also just NRA propaganda?

I don't really have a problem with people owning guns. I think just wanting a gun is reason enough.
I just think the argument about home invasions is crappy, that's all. There are better alternatives to a gun in a home invasion, and prevention would be even better.
