I guess you could come up with some excuse about the gravitational fields of the planet or death star mess with that ability.
They never really explain how hyperspace works.
Star Wars is the kind of film you shouldn't think too much about the physics. Especially the space combat.

The success of the light speed ramming did make me wonder why nobody else ever did it though. Why didn't the rebel fleet at Endor just light speed ram the Death Star?
They should just start making small drone ships with hyperdrives. At that speed they could probably 1-shot Star Destroyers and making everything but fighters obsolete.
In all honesty fighter spaceships could just be heavily armed cubes since aerodynamics don't matter in space. But yeah, the series is still using WW2 tactics in a setting that doing so is really ineffective. They could just use really dense drones that travel at hyper speed to ram into large craft and it would be effective. ---
