Secondly, not having played it only makes pointlessly criticizing it worse, especially when you're factually and blatantly wrong about the core concepts of the game.

Disagree.

That's marketing 101, if your presentation and your fanbase make you look like something, then that's how you look.

If the latest Superman movie and the people who saw it came across like it contained graphic scenes of Superman raping Robin for 38 minutes. A lot of people would not want to see it.

Or a more base example, imagine someone arguing that you have to eat poo covered in snot before you can criticize it as a bad meal.

According to you they're not allowed to reach that conclusion because they might be wrong.

That's not how logic works. You can and indeed should critize things you haven't seen or done. Just make sure you're aware that's a perception of something you haven't experienced.

Cool story bro, and you have some good points. Too bad none of them counter the whole "especially when you're factually and blatantly wrong about the core concepts of the game" thing.

To use your own analogy, it'd be like we were talking about the latest Superman movie and you were like

"Idk about that movie. I heard its got 38 minutes of Superman raping Robin. Think I'm gonna pass"

When there is clearly nothing like that in the movie. Regardless of the context, spreading misinformation about a piece of media cannot be considered a legitimate criticism of said piece of media, and as a result we have to discount your entire opinion.
