Well I first saw the altered ending though, but people hate that one too

I honestly feel like still hating it to that extent post-EC is just stubbornness.

I'm not saying you need to do a 180 on it and start loving it, and you can never forget that first wave of crushing disappointment, but still ranking it as "The Worst Ending Of All Time" when including the EC in the discussion starts to feel a little childish imo. I understand putting it in that echelon if you take the EC out of it, sure.

Similarly, ME3 is my favourite game of the series only when all DLC (for all the games) is included. But to me that's not a caveat, that's how you should consider it. Saying "vanilla ME2 is better than vanilla ME3" would be adding caveats. Complete picture > incomplete picture.
