Topic | I want to get into coding/programming. Where do I start? |
COVxy 12/14/17 10:40:35 AM #4: | Code academy is pretty good, in my experience. After getting a handle on the basic syntax, I'd decide on some small project to accomplish. My first time using Matlab, I decided to create a simple saliency map function that takes in an input image and outputs a saliency map based on the principles of lateral inhibition. Was a bitch and a really shitty algorithm, but it was fun and really got me to explore the language. Pretty much, I think the biggest reason people stop halfway through these online tutorial things is that there ends up being a lack of motivation. There are only so many arbitrary lists you can loop through without wanting to shoot yourself in the head. So coming up with a project that you're interested in with a clear goal in mind helps keel you going. --- =E[(x-E[x])(y-E[y])] ... Copied to Clipboard! |
