The Raid: Redemption - 58 points scarlet - 2 Johnbobb - 3 JONA - 3 Snake - 3 Inviso - 12 Karo - 13 Wickle - 22 scarlet - The Raid: Redemption is a really fun action film, but it never does come above that. It's comfortable in being a balls-to-the-wall martial arts film, and if you're comfortable with seeing just that, then you'll have a good time with this incredibly violent film, wonderfully choreographed film. If you want a plot and characters to latch onto, you'll definitely want to be looking elsewhere. But for my money, this is probably going to be one of, if not the best action film of the decade. Johnbobb - Holy shit this movie was impressive. I didnt realize it before watching, but I had actually had a little experience with this movie before, due to Cinefixs movie lists of the best action scenes and tensest moments in movies. And damn if this movie didnt earn both. Its honestly kind of hard to call it a martial arts movie; it has martial arts scenes, but the focus seems to be more on the gunfights and feeling of fear than anything. Honestly, this movie feels most like a horror film, playing out like a reverse home invasion with death lurking around every corner. It completely exceeded my expectations and has me hyped for the sequel. JONA - What really makes the movie stand out is its setting. The building's small, tight corridors really make for a claustrophobic feel with enemies coming from everywhere. The action is almost nonstop and is intense with great choreography. The fight scene with Mad Dog is really great. Snake - With some of the most consistently awesome and well-choreographed fight scenes on this list, The Raid: Redemption is non-stop funfest from the minute you press play. Gunfights, knife fights, hand-to-hand fighting, its all featured and is easily the most well-done on this list, I think even surpassing certain Kill Bill fights. I like the sort of video game-style set-up, like Rama is advancing through levels in a beat em up. Its relentless and fucking awesome. Inviso - In terms of pure action, this movie is pretty fucking awesome. Aside from the opening half hour, which is just a SWAT team working their way through a building and trying to be stealthy about it, its a whole bunch of kickass fight scenes, usually against large groups all at once. JONAs a rookie cop that gets cut off from the rest of his crew after he improvises a bomb out of a fridge, a propane tank, and a grenade. From then on, hes forced to cart around his injured buddy while kicking the shit out of anyone who gets in his way, including both a hallway fight scene and a drug lab fight scene. Meanwhile, youve got the hilariously out of shape old dude thats somehow able to survive the river of shit heaped upon the squad, mainly because of COURSE hes a fucking traitor. Oh! And theres also crazy JONA who has the chance to shoot the cops by instead decides to fight them hand-to-hand because hes fucking crazy, takes a broken fluorescent light to the throat, continues fighting, and only loses because its a 2-on-1 handicap. If the plot were better, this would be even higherbut its kinda JUST an action movie, soyeah. Karo - When a swat team raid goes horribly wrong a bunch of policemen end up trapped in a crime lord's tower. The cops are all ninjas because this takes place in asia. Because of some all-too-convenient plot elements they are unable to simply radio for help, and have to fight their way out floor by floor. What results is an hour or so of mindless violence that is still somewhat entertaining. --- The Iron BKSheikah break your bracket and make you humble! ... Copied to Clipboard! |
