I have the luxury of a good support base at home though, including a family doctor that treats me like a personal mission. I credit him most with turning my life around to the extent I have. Not everyone has those things.

Yeah, I get that entirely, about having a good support base. Once I ditched all of my toxic af friends and got new, supportive ones - and got over the loneliness I began to feel - my mood began to boost a lot. I've had maybe two bad depressive spells all semester as a result - which is rather few for me - and nothing suicidal with them. Complete 180 from last semester.

With me, I was always good at filtering out the bad people and keeping a good group around me, and I've always had a strong bond with my parents (though my mom, despite helpful intentions, could cause more harm than good sometimes). My life wasn't the problem, it's a chemical imbalance and a few life-threatening situations as a young child that put me here. I avoid drama like the plague though, because I tend to take on the weight of the world pretty easily otherwise (for the sake of clarification, I don't consider a legitimate problem drama, I just mean trolls or people causing intentional damage or being passive aggressive). I have a dickish faade that I tend to run with, but when put to the test, I will usually try to help people out when I can.
