I've sold over 20 different things on CL and none of them gave me any trouble. I Even sold my old car recently for over a few thousand dollars and the transaction went well. My 2nd biggest transaction was over $500 for a camera.

I always follow a few rules when I sell stuff:
- Sell during the day, never at night.
- We need to meet in person and I only accept cash.
- I try to find them on Google, Facebook or LinkedIn first to make sure they're normal people.
- I always meet in a public area, like a busy parking lot or shopping center.

Meeting at 12:30am was the first bad sign for the seller.

in my relatively safe town, "dem yung thuggas" will rob you even at a shopping mall or a parking lot. the police have set up designated "kijiji spots" with video surveillance to make transactions, right on police property. it's a great deterrent for these malfeasants..
