Good that you recognized this after only $40 spent; there are people who spend far more and achieve less. I haven't spent a single dime on a gatcha game. Never have. The most I spent was $6 for some crates in Fallout Shelter, because the game was worth that much to me.

Yeah, I'm not really a gambler and I can't afford to be a whale. Especially not on some mediocre phone game. I love Fire Emblem, but fuck that.

But, seriously, this totally was gambling. It could be really frustration to spend money on the orbs and get nothing but trash characters. And getting the character you really want or need for your team had it's own little thrill. Especially if they had great stats. But, man, when I did get the character I wanted but their stat spread was so bad that it crippled them, they was really frustrating.

I can totally see how some people with less self control could blow through a few hundred dollars without realizing it. Thinking "just one more round".

Between trying for Hector and trying for Sigurd., I think I spent just over $60 between two months. After spending $40 in one ten minute sitting of buying and spending the orbs and not getting Sigurd, I felt sick. Like, I could've spent that $40 on a game that was actually fun or food. Or anything more useful or necessary.

So, yeah, fuck these gambling gatcha games.
