He Is Legend - The Garden

like i've said before i dislike most metal, so the chances of me liking a song like this were slim. i thought this was super boring and overlong. i did like the brief solo section at the end but at that point it was too little too late. (according to wikipedia they play "southern metal," among other things - another genre i'd never heard of!)

The Sword - Freya

geez, is it boring metal week? more super boring metal. i like some stoner metal but this wasn't it.

Jangler - Gorgon

loved this. it sounds like someone took a tune by a really good jazz fusion band and reproduced it as an electronic track, if that makes sense.

Hans Zimmer - Morgan's Horse Farm

i've seen the ring a long time ago but i don't remember when this music plays. it's... ok i guess, didn't make much of an impression on me. (terrible movie btw.)

Speedy Ortiz - Tiger Tank

nice, as i've said before i like me some female vocalist rock. enjoyable song.

BADBATNOTGOOD feat. Sam Herring - Time Moves Slow

i've heard the name BADBADNOTGOOD before but i didn't know what kind of music they actually played. didn't care much for this song but i do want to check out more by them - moreso because i like this style of music than because i liked this particular song.

The Mountain Goats - The Diaz Brothers

the mountain goats is one of those bands that used to come up in the iconsience topics. another track that didn't make much of an impression on me, my only reaction after listening was "yup, that was a song."

KNOWER - Overtime

great song. it kinda sounds like jazzy electronic music mixed with '90s female fronted dance pop. loved that keyboard solo. (wtf, i liked louis cole's drumming in this a gazillion times more than in you will see. did he deliberately drum really badly in you will see to make the song as obnoxious as possible?)

Ghost of the Robot - Good Night Sweet Girl

c/p my writeup for the diaz brothers here i guess, excluding the "this band came up in iconsience" part. also, i did like this song a bit less than the diaz brothers.

Protomartyr - Half Sister

good song. i liked the melodies and the ways it changed throughout.

Ludo - Lake Pontchartrain

i can't stand this kind of pop punk/pop rock. this was more interesting than yellowcard or whatever but still pretty horrible.

Trivium - Beyond Oblivion

i used to hate trivium. nowadays i still do, but steiner recommended something from shogun to me that was way better than the trivium i remembered. this, however, was not that. i guess i've heard worse trivium, but this was still terrible metal with obnoxious vocals. (did they quote dream theater's ytse jam in that instrumental section or was that just a coincidence?)

Gorgon > Overtime > Half Sister > Tiger Tank > Morgan's Horse Farm > The Diaz Brothers > Good Night Sweet Girl > Time Moves Slow > The Garden > Freya > Lake Pontchartrain > Beyond Oblivion

change my vote to overtime if a tie needs to be broken, i guess. it was a super close call anyway.
