"Last resort" means that it's an option always on the table and there's always a threat of physical violence in an argument. Aside from how absurd that is coming from a supposed advocate of free speech, it's really odd to hear that from a rallying symbol of the alt-right, which is a group of people who believe that Neo-Nazis should not be assaulted for their beliefs under any circumstances.

Using someone's belief that acts of violence as a response to speech being unacceptable as some sort of foothold to forge an argument that they're nazi sympathisers is a really weird thing to do. If I was a meme'ing man I'd be inclined to claim its why Trump won.

I never said he himself sympathised with Nazis, only that it's baffling that he's held in such high regard by a group that espouses beliefs incompatible with his own. And as mentioned earlier, he absolutely is pandering to a very specific kind of person, but I suppose that they'd rally around him no matter what he said at this point.
