| Topic | In regards to Mario and the Odyssey storyline (big spoilers) |
| Steve Nick 11/23/17 7:57:42 AM #17: | Yeah, true, Nintendo might've already gone too far with DK's boy-scout image for it to work now. They can throw in old references to 1980's games without ruffling any feathers, but if you cast him as a straight up 3d, fully acted out at villain, you might step on the toes of the DK series. Although if you make the characters a bit different, you could potentially break it off as a separate canon. Presumably the Odyssey DK would be a big different(comically large, for one) Nintendo does seem more willing to take chances story-wise lately. I could see a scenario where Pauline and Peach are meeting together in NDC and Bowser shows up to kidnap Peach. Then DK swoops in, a short dialogue ensues. Bowser mouths off to DK and punches Bowser into the next Kingdom. Because let's be honest, if DK and Bowser ever throw down, that's only going one way. Then DK would be the main villain, but Bowser would be plotting his revenge. Meanwhile Mario is stuck in the middle. The creative risks really make the series a better game, and even though there's not even that much story, the fan reaction to Odyssey's new twists and turns on things was huge. --- This is my signature. ...
