I always describe it like a loaf of bread. There are two end slices on each side, like Sunday and Saturday in a week on any normal calendar.

Normal calendar. Spot the American.

The UK calendar starts with Monday and ends with Sunday. I believe most/all European countries do too. Same with Australia and the Pacific.
