Mine can run between 30-60 depending on the game and cost about $600

At 4k? I call bs

I should clarify that I didn't get all new parts. I bought a refurbished office PC for like $170 with an i5 4000-something (non k series), 8gb of ram, a cheap Corsair PSU for like $30, and then threw a GTX 1070 in there. Handles 4k just fine at 30fps min in the majority of games.

i have a beast machine though. an absolute monster. i5 4690K

Lmao even with living with your mom that's the best you can do? Smh.

why would i upgrade it in an era when the cpu is not a bottleneck?

To be fair more cores are going to be needed really soon with the way Ryzen shook up the market and has everything pushing to higher cores. Assassin's Creed Origins is an early stage example of this which can even out a threadripper/i9 under full load if it's available.
