I skimmed through it. From what I can tell he almost gets beat up recording people without consent. He claimed to be with the news to justify his recording.


Not for nothing, but you literally don't need consent to record in a public space (some exceptions apply depending on the state, most notably when it comes to children). The fact that he is or isn't a journalist has no bearing because you don't get special protections for journalism when it comes to recordings. Granted, other people have mentioned terms of probation, so I'm not sure what constraints he might be under (and, if he was barred from recording, I'm wondering how that's even constitutionally legal)


His probation includes being forbidden to record people without consent. And its legal, seeing as judges do this type of thing all the time by making normally legal things illegal while on probation (See DUI drivers being forbidden to have alcohol etc)
