Where I live it's because people don't want to pay $8,000+ a year in property taxes for a $250,000 home normally this results in home values coming down what's bizarre is they are not. I follow Zillow and have family that works in the real estate business. Home values are going up in some places but I'm seeing the areas with higher property taxes move houses more slowly and have price reductions more quickly.
