the olympics are bigger than the world cup, but its not a fair comparison because the sheer number of sports and nations representing. Winter olympics are debateable though. There isnt a single individual olympic sport competition the world cares about more than the world cup(and indeed, being an amatuer tournament, most people dont care about olympic soccer)

as far as individual sports though the world cup is far and away the biggest individial sporting competition. I dont even know if the super bowl comes close.

i mean it's fair to ask if the olympics are bigger when someone made a claim that the world cup is the biggest event in the world. they made the scope. i just asked the question.
