I love soda. Almost the only thing I drink, but I do drink juice and other things every once in a while. I'm drinking it right now. I need something with flavor. And tea doesn't cut it for me most of the time(Though I do like some, but can't drink it all day. And water doesn't really quench my thirst. Also, I think @Ben111 needs to start remembering that everyone has different bodies. Some people can become obese for other reasons. And soda doesn't make everybody obese. I know where I work people are all drinking sodas constantly(except on the weekend when it's a constant flow of alcohol). And we are all still average bodies. Except for me, and that's because my metabolism is insane and keeps me kinda skinny. Haha. Not only that, I would rather drink something that taste good rather than give up something I love to live a longer life that I hate. That's if not drinking keeps me alive longer. Chances are it won't, anyway. Most people I know give their kids candy, juice, cake, ice cream, etc. And most of them aren't making it homemade and sugar free. Mostly because sugar free is probably kind of gross. I don't do sugar-free or diet if I can help it. I rather live a happy life. And I wouldn't be able to without soda. Haha.

Edit: Also, might as well teach moderation. It's a lot easier than just saying no. Or trying to scare you kids into not drinking it(Which I feel would entail lots of lies/embellishments). The more you tell kids not to drink it, the more they'll want to. And if they taste it and like it, it could be worse the longer it took before they got their first sip. @Golden_Road is right. Later in life, it'll be hard to control you children's diet. And I definitely wouldn't let a SO dictate it.

I wouldn't need to lie to scare my kids away from that poison. Telling them the truth about all the long term health consequences should be enough and of course I would teach them the importance of a healthly life style.
