I can certainly think of a situation where it applies to being an asshole, but I don't think it really fits Kanye. If you're actually playing a character ala professional wrestlers, some of the heels act like assholes in the ring or surrounding their character, but are not that way when they aren't playing the character. The problem is, even if Kanye is "putting on an act", Kanye the person was invited to the awards, not Kanye the character.
