It's not so much that Northam won, but that he completely stomped him as pollsters were showing "the race tightening" is indicative of the Democrats potentially out preforming expectations next year. The state house was a huge deal, as it showed that Democrats are absolutely still coming out in force. And across the country you saw plenty of "firsts" in unexpected areas. 2018 got a hell of a lot more interesting if last night is indicative of anything.
