once you beat the game you will be collecting 30 moons every hour. they are everywhere. it dies down after 10- 12 hours/once you revisit all the areas once and learn all the gimmicks. it feels kind of grindy and pointless. like finding a red coin in a stage rather than completing something epic like a shiny in galaxy, 64 or sunshine.

Go play Mario 64 again if you think that you do something "epic" for each star. You say 30 moons an hour, which would average out to about 2 minutes per moon, but there are tons of stars you could get in Mario 64 in about 30 seconds to 2 minutes. The levels are also tiny. I don't know that Odyssey's levels are really much bigger, but they do a much better job of cramming different things to do and rewarding exploration. Some moons are very obvious, but each level has a few that are meant to take a while. If you just look at the major moons, it's certainly comparable to past games, and then the other ones there are like a bonus.

I don't know what you were expecting, it's a game where you're supposed to collect things and you sound like you're angry that you have to collect them. What did you expect? Did you think they were going to have ~900 moons that each took five minutes to find? That would get boring and be way too long for a Mario game.
