In ND's case, I am skeptical they control their own destiny to begin with, because lack of a title game feels like it leaves them wide open to get passed by both Clemson and Oklahoma to begin with. We saw last year that playing in the conference title game (much less winning it) is optional if you're good enough. Notre Dame's #3 ranking shows that the committee believes they're good enough. If they win out, that would potentially add two Top 25 wins in Miami and Stanford. They've got a good shot, and if Clemson or Oklahoma take a loss, that just makes it even more likely. Stanford won't be top 25 anymore after their loss, but Michigan State did them a favor today.
